Madea moved to film in 2005 with Diary of A Mad Black Woman, the film grossed 50 million at the box office and was considered a financial and critical success. The film brought Perry and his style of writing to a wider audience which sky rocketed him to become a house old name for anyone that loves a good dramedy staring strong african american actors.
Perry has since created numerous television shows for the cable channel TBS. The first beingHouse Of Payne followed by Meet The Browns, which is based on Perry’s famous character Mr. Brown played by David Mann, who stared in many of Perry’s plays and films. Followed by For Better Or Worse, based on the popular movie Why Did I Get Married featuring the characters of Marcus and Angela Williams. Perry is developed two new shows for the OWN network. Which were drama, The Haves and The Have Nots, and comedy, Love Thy Neighbor, staring Patrice Lovely as Hattie Mae, a character from Mr. Perry's plays.
Perry also has two films to be released this year.Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, was released on March 29, 2013 and A Madea Christmas will come this December!. Next year will see the release of Perry’s Single Moms Club.
